ABOUT CCIM

The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) is a media development organization engaged in the following activities: producing radio and online programs; media reporting on news websites and social media platforms; training of journalists and aspiring journalists, promotion and training on media and information literacy; training and networking with citizen journalists, and advocacy on media-related rights.

Position : Photojournalist

Location          : Phnom Penh

Work Status    : Full Time

Report to         : News Editor/Editor-in-chief

Job Summary:

The photojournalist is responsible for taking and editing photos for the online publications of VOD News channels, including websites and social media platforms, and for other purposes for VOD and CCIM.

Duties:

  1. Take and edit photos for VOD News
  • Attend morning editorial meetings
  • Take photos for news stories assigned by editors
  • Submit photos and captions to news editor or editor-in-chief
  • Propose and produce photo story ideas approved/assigned by news editors or editor-in-chief
  1. Produce workplan and report
  • Produce workplan for shooting photos to be used by VOD and CCIM
  • Store all produced photos on server/database for future use
  • Produce monthly and annual reports
  1. Assist to develop policy and guidelines related to photos
  • Assist in developing policies or guidelines related to photo usage for internal use
  • Provide orientations to CCIM staff to apply those policies or guidelines
  • Identify and suggest prioritization of IT devices needed in each financial year
  1. Provide training on photography
  • Provide training to CCIM staffs and/or its partners on photography, photojournalism and camera skills
  • Participate in trainings on photography if assigned by supervisor

Job Requirement:

  • Cambodian national. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • At least 2-year working experience in photography or photojournalism
  • Professional training in photography/photojournalism or Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related fields
  • Good understanding of safety protection protocols when in difficult situations
  • Good English language skills
  • Highly self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills with ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Be able to travel to province and work under pressure
  • A passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance
