ABOUT CCIM

The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) is a media development organization engaged in the following activities: producing radio and online programs; media reporting on news websites and social media platforms; training of journalists and aspiring journalists, promotion and training on media and information literacy; training and networking with citizen journalists, and advocacy on media-related rights.

Position : CJs Associated Editor

Location          : Phnom Penh

Work Status    : Full Time

Report to         : Editor-in-Chief

Job Summary:

Citizen Journalists (CJs) Associate Editor will work closely with Citizen Journalists Network (CJN) and other units of CCIM in monitoring and editing reports submitted by citizen journalists and young aspiring journalists. He/ she will also provide supports to other projects involving capacity building of citizen journalists and aspiring journalists and encouraging their reporting to be posted on VOD website and other media outlets.

Duties:

  1. Monitoring of reports submitted by CJs & young journalists:
  • Monitor and edit CJs’ reports on a daily basis and submit the posted reports in a monthly, annual, and progress report for the unit as well as CJs’ reports published on VOD website and other media outlets.
  • Coordinate reports submitted by newsroom trainees & graduates, freelance and young aspiring journalists to be posted on VOD website and other platforms.
  1. Provide capacity building to citizen journalists & young journalists:
  • Communicate and encourage CJs and young trained journalists to actively produce reports for the projects and the activities of CCIM.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching support and journalistic teachings to CJs & young journalists, developing and updating training materials and manuals etc.
  1. Other duties:
  • Assist CJN unit and members of Media Development Department (MDD) in implementing the projects/ program activities as agreed by the department.
  • Assist VOD newsroom as required
  • Other tasks assigned by direct supervisor or Management Committee.

Job Requirement:

  • Cambodian national. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor degree in journalism or related
  • At least 3-year experience in news reporting/editing
  • Be flexible and love community work and field trips to provinces
  • Sound understanding of human rights, freedom of expression, access to information, independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance
  • Ability to work with team and can handle different personalities
  • Experience working with non-government organizations is an advantage
  • Proficient level of spoken and written English language is an advantage
